Tell me more about the materials you use
All of our materials are locally sourced, by local we mean Dorset UK. We’d also like to point out that Rah and Rah jewellery is as hand made as possible, and by this we mean ‘if we can make it ourselves we will’ within reason of course (we draw the line at trying to make leather cord).
Bronze: We make our very own bronze which is an alloy of copper and auminium, casting it into plates which can then be used as we please. Our bronze has the same beautiful colour of gold but is infinitely cheaper and unique. It will not tarnish, we hold true to this.
Silver: The silver we use is for the most part 99.9% pure. We source our silver from foreign coinage and old jewellery, which is given a new lease of life when we cast it into ingots for new Rah and Rah pieces.
Shale: This wonderful dark grey rock is found on the Jurassic coastline of Dorset, and holds very special properties for jewellery making. The Romans used Shale in pole-lathes, to make beads and bracelets etc, because of it’s unique shine that becomes apparent after turning it in the lathe. Rah and Rah have a mission to revive this ancient craft.
